Jane, Baxter County became a county in 1873 since Big Flat is in the southern most part of Baxter County my guess would be that area was in Searcy or Stone. People living in that area tend to go to Marshall, Searcy County or Mountain View, Stone County more that they would to their own County Seat of Baxter. Up until the last 10 years or so the road though the National Forest and across the White River was not paved. There's no clean shot to the Baxter County Seat. I would check the other counties for Littleton Baker. I checked Baxter and Stone County 1880 census and didn't see his name.

Buried in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Searcy County I found this:
Littleton Baker b. May 14, 1811 d. Jun 24, 1892.

There was mention of his death in "The Mountain Echo" a Yellville, Marion County newspaper dated Jul 1, 1892.
Littleton Baker of Searcy County died. He was the father of G. M. Baker.

According to the LDS Church information there was a Littleton Baker b. abt 1860 in Searcy County, AR
and his parents were William Lafayette Baker and Sarah Alice Teague.
