Re-phrased and more info on an old query: Job Smith born 1820 SC, son of Joseph Hiram Garfield Smith born September 21, 1798 in Pickens District SC and died in 1879 in Bark Camp, Hall County, GA and Dorcas Polly Smith born December 25, 1800 Pickens District SC and died December 1879 in Bark Camp, Hall County Georgia, and died 1887 in Arkansas, married Melissa "Lissie" Hall born 1823 in SC and died 1887 in Arkansas. Job Smith and Melissa Hall were not married in Hall County GA, possibly in SC. As the story goes, Job and Melissa were on their way to Missouri to their son John Smith's house when one of them died and was buried near the trail. The next day or so, the other one died and was buried somewhere around Newport Arkansas. There were at least 2 babies or small children that died along the way. Headstones which first marked the graves have vanished. Job Smith and Melissa "Lissie" Hall's children were: William Ensley Smith born 1841 Georgia. Married Jane Shelton, Hampton A. "Hamp" Smith born December 1846 Georgia. Died between 1900-1910 Baxter, Arkansas, married Rebecca "Beckie" Williams born January 1848 Georgia. Rebecca "Beckie" Williams was the daughter of David W. Williams and Frances Minerva (Villyard)Williams. John F. Smith born February 19, 1849 Georgia and died October 11, 1930 in Tulsa County Oklahoma. Mary Smith born 1851 Ga., Hiram Russell Smith born Oct 25, 1852/54 Ga and died December 16, 1924(according to his tomstone at Eidson Cem)and death records. He married Nancy League born 1858 in Forsyth County, Ga. and died May 11, 1898 in Milton or Cherokee County, Ga.
