GRAVES-TANNER in Tuckerman and Evening Shade, Mountain Home,AR

Hi,

I am looking for information on my grandparents: Gilbert and Nancy (TANNER) GRAVES. Gilbert and Nancy lived somewhere around the Mountain Home/Evening Shade, AR area in 1906. They had a set of twins at that time and the girl, Marietta GRAVES, died and is buried at Bear Creek Cemetery in Evening Shade, AR. Nancy TANNER GRAVES is also buried there after her death in the late 1930's or early 1940's. Another daughter, Ida Pokejoy Phillips, is also buried next to Nancy and Marietta.

It is believed that Gilbert and Nancy moved to that area with TANNER family members or GRAVES family members or both. I am looking for all information on the GRAVES and TANNER families living in the area at the time.

Gilbert's father was John GRAVES who married Elizabeth TANNER (Nancy's mother) in 1876 in Williamson County, IL. Nancy had a sister, "Molly/Polly" TANNER who married an Albert ANDERSON sometime between 1905 and 1915, possibly, in AR somewhere. Malinda GRAVES was 3 years old on the 1880 Williamson County, IL census. No information is available on John, Elizabeth, and Malinda, after that census. It is believed that they moved from IL to MO to AR, possibly detouring through KY to see John's family. No information has been found on them at all.

A WW1 draft card for one of Gilbert and Nancy's son, has Nancy living in Tuckerman, AR in 1917. I have been unable to find any other information on her. Nancy is later found on the 1930 census living in Cache Township, Woodruff County, AR with her son, Raleigh Harrison GRAVES and his family.

Gilbert GRAVES died sometime after 1906 and before 1930, but when exactly is unknown. There is a tombstone for him at the cemetery in Elgin, AR but the dates on it are not correct.

Gilbert and Nancy had the following children:
Clementine, b. 1879 IL
John, b. 1889, either MO or AR
Melinda, unknown
Ida, b. 1891, unknown
Lonzo, unknown
Raleigh Harrison, b. 1892, possibly Barry Co., MO or Baxter Co., AR
Ethel, b. 1894
Melvin, b. 1897
Huey, b. 1900, AR
Myrtle,male,twin, b. 1906
Marietta, female, twin, b.1906 d. 1906

If anyone has any information on any of the people listed, please email me at bgraves34@texoma.net. Any and all help is very much appreciated in tracing down my family.

Thank you,
Bonnie Graves
