I am trying to learn more about a James K. Taylor and his wife Emeline [possibly Talley??] who appear with their granddaughter Rhonda in the 1900 U.S. census for Independence Twp, Baxter Co. James was born in Jul 1847, his wife Emeline was born Jan 1837. They had been married 32 years, since 1868. Rhoda Taylor, a granddaughter, was born 1892, and was living with her grandparents without any parents listed in the household.
I am looking for any information about that family because my wife descends from a John Henry Taylor reported born 1874 in Fulton or Baxter Co., son of a James and Emeline Taylor. The census says Emeline had 8 children of whom 5 were still living in 1900.
The 1900 census says James K. Taylor was a farmer who owned his home. Land patent records are ambiguous, one index says a James K. Taylor received a certificate of purchase for 160 acres 26 Apr 1871, but there is another index record of of a James A. Taylor buying apparently the same 160 acres 15 aug 1882.
Does anyone have any connections with or information about this James K. Taylor and Emeline his wife?
