The John B. Pitts I am seeking is NOT John Belton Pitts.
The John B, Pitts I am seeking information on was born Bet 1811-1812 and died after 04 Jun 1860, was married to Elizabeth Unknown, perhaps another Elizabeth Bolt but not the Elizabeth Bolt who m. John Belton Pitts. The children of the John B. and Elizabeth I am seeking were:
William c 1834
Samantha c 1835
Victoria c 1836
Elizabeth c 1838
John c 1839
Isaac c 1842
Matthew c 1846
Tabitha J. c 1846 and
Lewis c 1849 Tennessee d bef 26 Jun 1900
[This Lewis had a son Virgil A. Pitts b. 1893 Lonoke, AR (married in Yell, AR) Lewis lived in Grant and Saline AR later.
The only Census I could locate is listed under L. Pitts 1849 TN, Nov 15, 1850 TN and that with mostly initials; however, the initials do match up with the names of the children.
If you have information on this lineage, those of us researching this John B. and Elizabeth Unknown could surely use your help.
There were some pictures made at a reunion, but I only have a copy and they are not clear. There is one of a Ben Pitts with note that he was b. 4/21/1892 d 5/24/1957 and m. Katherine b. 5/18/1898 d. 2/8/1977, so perhaps this will give someone a clue.
There is a portion of an obit of a son of Lewis, Richard Pitts. He formerly worked for a railroad. He was born Oct 10, 1881 in Yell Cty, Arkansas, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lewis Pitts. He was married Dec 18, 1901 in Yell Cty to Hattie May Waller. The family lived at 412 E. Linden Avenue but no other info given except he was a member of the First Baptist Church.
