Nice to hear from you.
I do indeed know about Lucy's parents,
J.George and Elizabeth (Thomas) Apt.
Elizabeth's father was William Thomas,
United Empire Loyalist, of Digby, NS.
J.George was born on the ship 'INGO', just
offshore of England, in August 1780. His parents (Johann Georg ABT and Anna Katarina MEERGARDT) were aboard a military vessel
transporting Hessian soldiers to New
York to fight for the British cause in the
American Revolution. I have a copy of the
Register recording his birth, in German of
course. But it gives his parents' names
and where they are from in Germany.
I also have a copy of his parents' will,
probated in Jan, 1815. It lists their
surviving children, including your George.
He left NS after his father's death with
Betsy and several young children. They
moved across the water to NB, then drifted
down to Maine.
