Thanks for your reply to my note. I plan to visit Kamouraska this coming Fall and will visit the local museum and may find more information there. The British attack on Quebec took place in 1759. My nephew Brian April who is well informed in military matters, seems to think his first ancestor Francois, must have come to Canada on a merchant ship, and must have been from a family of merchants to have been a master navigator at such an early age. But young men went to sea when very young in those days. Also being from Genoa, which was a great center of commerce, his family could have been in commerce.
I'm still hoping to make contact with some closer relatives when I visit Riviere du Loup, where my brother-in-law was born.
