Re: Slaves owned by Appling
Hi!You might try getting in touch with Ian Appling in England.I had read somewhere that he was trying to put together a book on, excuse the term, "Black Appling's"He has been in the process of writing a couple of books on the families, so he may be able to help you.You may also try the DAR in Washington, D.C. It is my understanding that they have a pretty good collection on African-American genealogy.
I have seen some old wills from my ancestors, but don't recognize George. What dates do you have for him?Do you know who is owner was?I believe that a lot of the slave rolls have been put on microfilm.Try your local library and tap into the AGLL (American Genealogical Lending Library) or with a local LDS church. They have great people who work in their family history libraries at each church. You can order microfilm, fiche and they usually have genealogical cds available.
