Gay's response is well stated and convincing. Thomas Appling, s/o Joel, was probably deceased long before 1850, but there is another possibility. Thomas Appling (Thomas, Richard, Thomas, DAVID b. c1757 d. c1793) could possibly be the Thomas Appling in Barbour Co., AL, in 1850. This Thomas was the first cousin of Thomas, s/o Joel. Does anyone have information about Thomas, s/o David, who was living with relatives in Wilkes Co., GA, in 1800, according to Deviney?
