I'm looking for info on the Appleton family of Wigan, England. Here's what I know --
Joseph Appleton, born about 1824 in Orrellm England. In 1881 he was a nailmaker, living in Wigan, England. He married a woman named Ann. I don't know her maiden name. She may have been English or Irish. The census says she was born in Wigan but that her first daughter (by another marriage) was born in England -- something must be off there. Her first marriage was to a Mr. Reid. Their daughter, Ann (or Anna or Annie) Reid wa born about 1855.
Joeph and Ann Appleton had three children together -- Mary Alice (about 1861 - Feb 24, 1943), Joseph (born about 1863) and James (born about 1865). Mary Alice married Patrick Cawley, had three children in Wigan, then emigrated to USA. She was my great, great grandmother.
I would love to more about the Appleton's and Reid's. What happened to Ann Reid? What about Joseph and James Appleton?
