I have some information re/ Jacob D. Applegate & Sarah Stratton that may help your search. He was born 15 Apr 1821
in Ridgeway, Dover Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ. Sarah Elizabeth was born 11 Jul 1819. She died 15 Dec 1902 in Lakehurst, NJ. Both are buried in Whitesville Cem. Married 15 Jul 1843
in Monmouth Co., NJ.
1D3A7A5. Jacob D. Applegate, born Apr. 15, 1821(Tb) at Ridgeway, Dover Twp., Monmouth Co., NJ; died Aug. 5, 1896 at his residence in Manchester, NJ. He married on July 15(19), 1843 in Monmouth Co., NJ to Sarah Elizabeth Stratton, born July 11, 1819; died Dec. 15, 1902(Tb) at Lakehurst, NJ, daughter of Josiah and Mary Stratton. They are buried in Whitesville Cemetery. Jacob was born at the old homestead at Ridgeway and had always lived in Manchester except for a few years when he lived in Pemberton, NJ. He was as hard working man. After his marriage, he moved to Burlington Co., but returned in 1857 to Ocean Co., NJ. He appears in the census of Ocean Co., from 1860-80; in 1900, Sarah is living in the household of her son, Josiah, in Lakewood, NJ.
I have 12 children listed Sarah Jane B.1-10-1853 in Browns Mills, NJ,Margaret, Mary A., Martha,Paulina, John B., Josiah, Charlotte, Louella, Emeline, Felina,& Harriot.

She married (1) on Jan. 9, 1873 at Manchester, NJ with Joseph Ford, Esq., officiating, to John Phifer (ID3A2J8), of Ridgeway, NJ, born ; died , son of John Fifer and Sarah Applegate; (2) to Samuel D. Cowan, born ; died . They lived in Manchester, NJ; In 1902, she was a widow, living in Lakehurst, NJ.
I have no info regarding Jacobs parents, please help fill in the gaps.
