I am related the the Applegarth family of Ont., Canada. Catherine Applegarth b.1790 in NY state d. Aug. 12,1855 in Ancaster, Ont. She is my GGG Grandmother. She named one of her boys Preserved William Applegarth Cooley. After her husband Preserved Cooley & her brother William Applegarth. Her brother was William Applegarth & he married Martha Cooley (Catherine's sister-in-law). There was also a Captain William Applegarth in the Second Regiment of York Militia in the War of 1812. He fought for the British. That makes him a Loyalist. I'm assuming this William Applegarth is one & the same. Preserved Cooley was a Loyalist.
