The name originated in what is now Great Britain and has been found in "Domesday" or death records as early as 1016 from the town of Lincolnshire. It is of Norse Viking decent and would have a literal translation of "Apall" old Norse for apple and "byr" which is Norse for farm or settlement. Notify Administrator about this message?
