Hi Carol,
I have just read something you posted four years ago. I hope this information is helpful.
Willard (Burt) Appleby is the cousin of my ancestor, Adoniram Judson Appleby. Willard is the son of Samuel Appleby and his second wife, Sarah Jane Cameron (his first wife, Rebecca Jane Dewar died in November 1, 1866. They had three children). I have no wedding date for Samuel and Sarah.
Willard was their first child, and inherited the family land which he passed on to his son, Norman, who was born in 1919 and died in 1976. My files indicate that Willard was born in 1869, but I did not have the month or day -- thanks!
Samuel and Sarah had Thomas in 1873, and Effie in 1878 or 1879.
Samuel Appleby was quite a character and a number of stories about him have survived to this day. He was the son of Benjamen (this is the spelling I have been given) Appleby . This line of Applebys were loyalists, perhaps from Rhode Island.
