some documents spell their last name Appleby some Applebee
Benjamin and Mercy Sly were married in Smithfield RI. I don't know how many children or what all thier children names are if you have information on that I would like it. According to the Gazzetter of Grafton County NH 1709-1886 published by Hamilton Child which list the history of the towns in NH, Benjamin, Zebadee, Justin and Josiah Applebee were some of Franconia NH earliest settlers. In the 1790 Census for Franconia there is a Zebide Applebee and a Benjamin Applebee listed. Census takers were not always good spellers and you will find names spelt wrong all the time. In 1800 there is a Benjamin, Zebedee and a Jrail Appleby listed. In 1810 there's Benjamin, James, David, Jzail, Zebbede Applebee listed. I know one of Benjamin's daughter's Deliliah born in Smithfield, RI on June 2, 1778 married Buckminster Drury March 19, 1795 in Franconia. They remained in Franconia and raised a large family. All the Appleby's must have left Franconia sometime between 1810-1830 because the 1830 census doesn't list any Appleby's at all. All the males listed on the census had families, who they were or what happened to them I don't know. I only know about Deliliah she died Dec 6, 1867 and is most likey buried with her husband in the Willow Cemetery in Franconia, NH.
