The information I have, (not guaranteed) is that Winfield Scott Appleby married Ellenda Luckett (or Ellen Osborn, as Robert Appleby told me via e-mail). She was born March 23, 1861 in Arkanas and died 2-5-1947. Buried Marsh Cemetery, DeWitt, AK. Children were: Winfield Scott was not listed on the 1900 Arkansas Soundex but Ellen's mother was - her name was Ellen Luckett, b 10-1830 in Alabama. Winfield fought on the Union side in Company E, 16th Missouri Calvary. William Scott's parents were William Alfred Bell Appleby, b May 31-1816, Bedford County TN and died 2-23-1873. He first married Elizabeth Snow-Freeman, then Mary McKoin. William Scott's parents were David Appleby, b Nov 4, 1788 in Cumberland County PA and Catherine Bell, from Jackson County GA. David was the son of William Appleby and Agnes McCurdy, William's second wife. Of course, this is the William that was one of the original three brothers who came here. I've got more, but I hope this sheds something new. My ancestors were from William's first wife, however, they came from Arkansas. My grandfather, Dick Wood Appleby, left Ark in his youth because of the hardships caused by the Civil War.
