Apperson Family Genealogy Forum
I've tried to find info on "Jane Apperson" on the LDS website and World Connect . . . nothing. But, I did find a ton of info on her husband, Rev. Eleazer Clay. Here are my thoughts as to why nothing is found on "Jane Apperson". First off, I feel her real surname was Epperson because the surname "Apperson", as far as I know and can find, didn't occurr until Francis Epperson and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Long renamed all of their children with the surname "Apperson" after 1760. Your Jane Apperson was born in the 1740's, earlier than this so, I'm thinking her surname was really Epperson. The only instance I can find where the surname Apperson comes up is with the children and their descendants of Francis Epperson. Secondly, her first name may have been Mary Jane or Sarah Jane or, etc. Jane may have been her middle name that she went by. Notice Francis Epperson's wife's name, Mary Elizabeth Long - but, she went by "Betty". If you had typed in her real name, you would have never found her. So, when you search for her, keep in mind that her real name may have been almost ANYTHING. I guess this is what makes genealogy so much fun . . . the HUNT! Good luck. Ron
