I think we have a connection. I have not tied into John Goldtrap,Sr. from New Jersey yet, but am almost positive that our John Goldtrap* is his son. I have John Goldtrap that was born in New Jersey on May 16, 1773 he came to Cincinnati area in the late 1780's he appears in the 1790 census in Ohio. He married Ann Gavin Vorhis on July 5, 1796 in Hamilton County, Ohio. They had 9 children. William, Mary, Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Jane, Nancy and John**.
**His last child John is my husbands decendant. John married Christina Apgar in 1842 and in the 1850's they moved to Chebanse, Illinois.
*John Goldtap d. September 5, 1830 in Sycamore Twp., Ohio
his wife Ann died July 15, 1849.
I would like to get more information on your Mary Goldtrap and Daniel Stires. Shonneen@fuse.net if you want to email me directly or snail mail me at Shonneen Goldtrap, 10432 Stablehand Dr., Cincinnati, Ohio 45242
