In our database it shows Hattie who married Mr.Fairchild to be the daughter of Rev. Joseph and Catherine Antley.
A couple of years ago Sue Antley got a copy of Mr. Eugene Brevard Antley's book and spoke with him on the phone. She worked the info on his branch of the family she received from Eugene.
There are several interesting references to Joseph in Eugene's book "One Man's Search for Roots". Rev Joseph was a well respected Baptist Minister in SC and MS.
He also speculated on several possible origins of the family. Some of that has been disproven but Eugene himself emphasised this was old family stories which weren't documented. He himself noted in the book that he had found some not to be the correct.
Here is a descendant chart on John and Catherine ANTLEY. Catherine is proven to be Rev Joseph's mother from her obit. But John has yet to be proven as his father. It's assumed thru process of elimination and Catherine shows up as head of household in the census when John disappears from it.
