I have info on the following children of John J. Antley and Martha Bruce:
Marie married Joe Smoak
Rebecca June married Zachariah Hugo Smoak
(She had 11 children, I have names)
George Rufus married Annie Laurie Ashe and Alberta Bonnette(I have children's names)
Ann(Sue)maried Sam(Mal)Smoak
I have a copy of John Joseph Antley's(they spelled it Antiley) obituary. "J.J.Antiley of the Fork, died on Jan.20 from pneumonia..he was about fifty-five years of age..a very successful man in his business
affairs and had accumulated quite a handsome property..a kind and charitable man.."
His wife did not die until 1924, so I feel sure he was married only once. His wife's obit reads as follows:
"Mrs. Martha Bruce Antley...Branchville, Feb.3 - widow of the late John Antley of Edisto Fork, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Riley, of Cordova. Mrs. Antley had lived her four score years and was widely known as "grandmother Antley." Although blind for the past several years, she was always cheerful...a member of the Canaan Baptist church, at which her funeral was held..buried there by the side of her husband...
Mrs Antley is survived by the following sons and daughters: John Antley of Youngs Island;Mrs. William Riley of Cordova;Rufus and Dibble Antley, Mrs. Mall Smoak, Mrs. Revecca Smoak, Mrs.Andrew Westbury and Miss Josie Antley of the Edisto Fork, three daughters having preceded her to the grave..."
