L. E. Anthony 3/01/03
I was at the Memphis Library yesterday researching my Burris family and ran across the estate settlement of John Anthony who evidentley died in Lawrence County, TN in late 1835 or early 1836.My John Burris was named the executor of the estate.Because John Anthony's wife was a Burns, I looked carefully at the signature on two documents and beleive it clearly says Burris not Burns or Burnes. John's widow, Millie, moved with my Burris family and other Lawrence County families to Pope County, AR. (Pope County History Book v.1) where she died (1-28-1846)and is buried in Center Valley Cemetery along ith some of my Burris'. After moving to Pope County some of the children intermarried with some of my family, but I have no indication that the two lines were connected prior to the move. Are you aware of any Burris connections to the Anthony line?My John Burris' wife was an Ashmore and his mother was a Bailey. John Anthony was more the age of my John's father than his own age.Could the Anthony line be connected to one of these lines?I would like to know why John Burris was named as executor. The Anthony estate was quite large. I printed the inventory and estate sale lists (includes names of purchasers), but somehow miss the actual settlement. I did not find a will.
