Would she be the daughter of Levi Springer Anno. His wife was Nancy and he had a daughter named Sarah. This is what I have on them.
!BIRTH:Microfish #0858667, The Arrowsmiths, Kenton & Anno Families
!MARRIAGE: Microfish #0858667, The Arrowsmiths, Kenton & Anno Families
Levi Springer Anno was born 1836 in Ohio or Illinois. His father Thomas Anno married Sarah Bunn onMarch 2, 1824 in Ross County, Ohio. A Henry Anno and Thomas Anno are both listed as living in RossCounty, Ohio in the 1830 Federal Census. Henry is Thomas Anno's father. There is a possibility thatLevi was born in Ross County, Ohio. In the 1850 Federal census Thomas and Sarah Anno are living inMason County, Illinois. Living with them is a Springer Anno, age 14, born in Ohio. However, the 1880and 1900 Federal census for the Levi S. Anno family living in Texas lists his birthplace as Illinois.
Levi married Nancy A. Hopkins in Tazewell County, Illinois on January 25, 1859. If the marriage dateis correct, Nancy would have been only 13 years of age. This is from an IGI record batch numberM533781. Nancy A. Anno is buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mason County, Illinois. She wasborn October 12, 1846 and died May 7, 1870 at 23 years, 6 months, and 25 days. Their infantdaughter Lillie was born May 5, 1870 and died May 12, 1870. Nancy may have died due to complications from childbirth.
Levi S. Anno married second Rebecca Brooks on January 11, 1872 in Mason County, Illinois. SourceIllinois Statewide Index 1763-1900. Pet Anno infant daughter of L. S. Anno and R. Anno was bornSeptember 4, 1872 and died December 22, 1872. She is buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Levi and Rebecca Anno are listed in the 1880 Federal Census for Roclswall County, Texas. Levi islisted as 43 years of age born in Illinois. Rebecca Anno is listed as 37 years of age born in Indiana. There are five daughters and two sons listed in the census: Sarah Anno age 18 born 1862 in Illinois,Sherman Anno age 18 born 1862 in Illinois, Willard Anno age 16 born 1864 in Illinois, Lora Anno age14 born 1866 in Illinois, Minnie Anno age 6 born 1874 in Illinois, Lizzie Anno age 4 born 1876 inIllinois, and Dollie Anno age 6/12 months born 1880 in Texas.
Based on this census record, Sarah, Sherman, Willard, and Lora are from the first marriage to NancyA. Hopkins. The family moved from Illinois to Texas about 1879.
Levi and Rebecca Anno are listed in the 1900 Federal Census for Hunt County, Texas. Levi is listed as67 years of age born in Illinois, and Rebecca was born October 18, 1841 in Indiana. There is no one else living in the home.
Levi S. Anno enlisted in the Union Army on July 18, 1862 as a private and Levi served for almost
three years. He enlisted in I Company of the 85th Illinois Infantry Regiment. The 85th IllinoisRegiment was organized at Peoria on August 27, 1862 and was mustered out of service on June 5,
1865. The companies A-K were formed in Mason, Fulton, Menard, Woodford, Tazewell and SchuylerCounties Illinois. The Regiment went into battle almost immediately after being formed. They wereorganized in September 1862 and were in action at Peryville in October 1862. At Perryville they madea bayonet charge at 3 o'clock in the morning.
Four of Thomas Anno's sons served with the Union army plus a grandson. John F. Anno enlisted inCompany A of the 85th on the same day as Levi as a private. Levi had an older brother named John. Both Levi and John listed their home as Mason County, Illinois. Levi transferred from I to A Companyon August 1, 1862. Perhaps he changed companies to be with his brother. Unfortunately John F. Annowas killed at the battle of Peach Tree Creek, Georgia on July 19, 1864. James W. Anno, a grandsonof Thomas Anno, was killed at Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia on June 27, 1864. James was serving inthe 103rd Infantry Regiment. Joseph Anno another brother of Levi's served in the 27th IllinoisInfantry, Company E. Joseph survived the war and married his brother's ( James) widow. The 85thIllinois Regiment had 86 enlisted men killed or mortally wounded in battle. Another 131 enlisted mendied of decease or accident.
The 85th Illinois infantry Regiment saw action at the following battles; Perryville, Kentucky 10/1862,Buzzard's Roost, Georgia 2/1864, Kenesaw Mt., Georgia 6/1864, Marietta, Georgia 6/1864, Peachtree creek, Georgia 7/1864, Jonesboro, Georgia 9/1864, Altanta, Georgia 9/1864 and Louisville,Kentucky 11/1864.
Levi mustered out of the service on June 5, 1865 as a full Corporal. Levi is listed in the 1890 Texas
Veterans schedule for Hunt County, Texas.
Levi Anno applied for a military invalid pension on May 29, 1891. He was living in Texas at the time.On June 25, 1909 Rebecca Anno, widow, filed a pension application.
A Molly Anno, male, was born August 23, 1928 in Coleman County, Texas. His father was Molly Annoand mother was Threta Lofas. This may be a grandson or great grandson of Levi Springer Anno.
Hope this helps you find the Sarah you are looking for.
