Henry Brown Annis 1831-1922 was the son of Charles Annis (1794-1866) and his first wife Nancy (Tupper) Annis (1803-1837).
Charles Annis was born June 1, 1794 at Lyme, New Hampshire; died circa 1867 at Parishville, New York; married circa 1827, Nancy Tupper at Parishville, and had four children; married 2nd, September 17, 1837, Rosanna Place at Parishville, and had eleven children; married 3rd, circa 1854, Louisa Brink at Stockholm, New York, and had one child; married 4th, circa 1859, Jane Lucas, and had four children.
Charles was a blacksmith by trade and a farmer. He was residing at Parishville in 1860, and evidently was divorced from his third wife, as she was residing at Stockholm Center with their daughter, Lucy, and Charles wife at that time is listed as Jane.He was a deeply religious and honest man, who could be heard singing hymns while he worked his forge.Charles, with his four wives, had the largest number of children of any recorded Annis male.
It was reported by his son, Levi, that Charles was a veteran of the War of 1812.
