My grandmother's maiden name was Annabel. Her full name was Emmeline Leah Annabel, and she married Edwin George Boden. He was born in Abergavenny, Wales, and was one of twins. The couple was deeply involved with the Methodist church, and Emmeline was a Sunday school superintendent and organist. Edwin worked with the railways at Everleigh workshop in Sydney, and later at Chullora, Sydney. He also wrote feature articles for the Sydney Morning Herald. They had one child, Cecil Edwin Breakwell Boden, who was my father. He was a naval architect, university lecturer and co-founder of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects in Australia. Emmeline and Edwin lived at Tempe, a suburb of Sydney, Australia, and later moved to a new home, "Green Point", Sassafras Gully Rd., Springwood, in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Emmeline had a number of brothers and sisters. I am certain only of: Lillian Annabel (Lily) Edith Annabel (Edie) They were spinster sisters who shared what I believe to have been the Annabel family home at Cronulla, a suburb of Sydney. My grandmother Emmeline lived beyond 100 years, and both her spinster sisters were also of a greatly advanced age when they died. My grandfather Edwin died about 1953 in Sydney. Both he and Emmeline are buried at Sydney's Botany Cemetery. My father was cremated at Rookwoood Crematorium, Sydney. It is possible that the father of the Annabel girls had the first name of Frederick (Freddy) It is also possible that one of their sisters married a Mr Hayes, of Newcastle, NSW, Australia. I would very much like to access any information about this branch of the Annabel family. Ian Boden Notify Administrator about this message?
