Doing research for my family, I find in the 1861 census my geratx3 grandfather was listed as a cook on the Rokeby.
He was from Hull but he could have sailed from anywhere up and down the coast.
Check your ancestor in the 1861 census and he should be listed on board. Or check him on any other census year as this skipper may not be your man.
There seems to be a Rokeby Hall ship which spent much of its time in the southern hemisphere.
