I am looking for my gg gf who I know as Charles Henry Briggs b 7October1861-65 bp unk. I can find Charles Henry living in NJ from 1891 until 1902 when he moved to MO and in MO from 1902 until his death in 1913. Family rumor states that Charles Henry got in some type of trouble, I have heard with the law and I have heard another version where he got a woman pregnant, in both stories, Charles Henry supposedly moves his family to MO in 1902 and changes his name from Angle to Briggs. He did make the move, but I can only find him as BRIGGS. IF the name change is true, I am believing it to have happened prior to 1891, mainly because I can not find him prior to 1891 ANYWHERE.
He lists on his marriage certificate (to May McCarthy in NJ in 1892) father Charles, mothers maiden name Stella Briggs. BUT on his death certificate it states father Charles, mothers maiden name Mary Denbar.
Does anyone out there recognize this story or any of these names? I have been researching Charles for 8 years and I can not find him! I am hoping for break!
