Jeremiah & Ruth ANGELL,RI->NY/OH 1811?

When did Jeremiah ANGELL's family appear in Michigan and what route did they take from Providence, RI.? Jeremiah, b. 1787, and Ruth MEDBURY, b. 1788, left RI right after their marriage on January 1811 in Smithfield, Providence Co.. Where did they go?

Avery Angell in his ANGELL genealogy, states that Jeremiah ANGELL and Ruth removed to Ohio from RI, yet we have been told that their son, Abiah ANGELL (b. Nov. 1811, m. Lucy PARKER, also b. 1811.), was the first of 3 children to be bapt. in New Ashford, MA. Later children were bapt. in "Marion, Wayne County, New York" and "Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan".

A second source has boiled it down:
"Jeremiah and his family left Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island, and moved to New Ashford, Massachusetts in 1812. In 1816 he bought a farm in Marion, Wayne County, New York. In 1835 they moved to Plymouth, Wayne County, Michigan." [DT]

We are wanting to confirm the above info, since we can't find Marion, NY, or Plymouth in either NY or Michigan on current maps.
Would anyone knowing of these people or their migration pattern please contact us? Sources greatly appreciated. Thanks Margo
