Dear Graham Thank you for responding to my message. In order to introduce myself and explain my interest in Samuel Angell - he is my wife's great grandfather. My wife, Pippa (otherwise known as Philippa) is the daughter of Hugh Alsop, who I believe you have been in touch with recently. Their Angell connection is through Samuel's youngest child - Irene Maria Angell. Lately, I have been trying to locate as much as I could on my wife's ancestors and I have had some difficulties in locating Samuel Angell's birthplace. On the 1891 census it states that he was born in Garn Vach in the county of Monmouthshire - but I was unable to locate Samuel Angell being born in Monmouthshire on the 1881 census (LDS CDs). I was aware that the name Angell was prolific in the county of Wiltshire and this led me to believe that Samuel was from this region. I have noticed him on the 1881 census, which showed that he was a boarder at Trowbridge. Thank you for the information regarding Samuel Angell's birth. (Hugh showed me the copy of the certificate, of which you send). I have a $64,000 question to ask you - have you managed to locate Samuel's marriage to Ceinwen Richards? I have exhausted my search through the GRO indexes at Bath Library from 1878 onwards and found nothing. I think we need to look at the father's column on the marriage certificate. This might give us the lead we need? If the father's name is omitted, we can safely say that 1856 Samuel Angell from Trowbridge is our true great-grandfather-in-law!! Regards David Greed
