Dear Becky: Thanks for your query about Eliza A. Angell who m. Horatio G. Craig. The location, Greenfield, NY, makes it just about certain she is one of ours. I have consulted the 1872 Avery Angell "Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas Angell", and find on p. 113, that 7th generation Stephen Angell, b. Jan 30, 1799 married Sarah Archer, b. Nov 7, 1802. (This Stephen was the son of Ezekial Day Angell, our patriarch.) Stephen and Sarah had 6 children: Freelove b. Nov 19, 1827, Amey b. Feb. 16, 1830, Marietta b. June 14, 1834, Augusta b. Oct. 23, 1838, Stephen A, b. July 31, 1840 and finally (it just says) Elizabeth. Darn! No date given - I don't know whether the author just trailed off or what. But she is the only one listed who could be your Eliza, based on the matching of dates. It looks as though she would have been born after 1840, which would make her a young bride in 1857. She may not be your Eliza, though, just the only likely one I can find. In another case, a later Eliza Angell, b. 1860 becomes "Lida" on her tombstone. Can you give me any more information about the people you are looking for? Like where they ended up & dates of death? I will keep your quest in mind as I gather more information. Happy hunting!
