I believe you have a generation missing; Thomas b: 1540 and Anne b: abt 1542, had a son, William, b: abt 1560 in Peakirk, Northamptonshire, England, d: 30 Oct 1629 in London, Middlesex, England.
In abt 1583 William married Joan Elizabeth POVEY, b: 11 Dec 1565, and among their four children was Maria 'Mary' ANGELL b: 1602 in London, d: 10 Apr 1661 in Northborough, Cambridgeshire, England, as did her husband, John CLAYPOOLE.
Mary and John m: 06 Jul 1622 at St Thomas the Apostle Church, London, Middlesex, England. One of their children was John CLAYPOOLE, who m: Oliver CROMWELL's favorite daughter Elizabeth.
Another son, James CLAYPOOLE II, became a London merchant with interests in Bremen, Germany. He and his family survived both the Great London Plague of 1665 and the Great London Fire of 1666 (in 1683 James was instrumental in bringing the 13 Crefeld families to Penn's new Pennsylvania to found Germantown).
Mary's nephew, Thomas ANGELL, immigrated to America aboard the "Lyon" in 1631 with Roger Williams, and with him founded Rhode Island (and the American branch of the ANGELLs).
