Angell Family Genealogy Forum

I have been working for some time on making a connection between Charles Giles Angel, born 4/27/1823 Ceres, Allegany Co., NY, and the Angells of RI. Charles may be the son of William (b.1797) and Elizabeth (possibly Giles). I believe that William may have been born in Otsego Co., NY, possibly Burlington and moved to the Ceres area in his early twenties. He may have actually settled on the PA side in Mckean Co., PA. It is also likely that he did not go west alone because other Angel(l)s appear in the area around the same time, Jesse, Fernando C. (possibly a brother), Hon. William G. in Angellica, etc. It appears that William may haved moved on with Charles to IA. I found a record of a land sale with William (from Muscatine Co., IA) sold a parcel of land in Exeter, Otsego Co., NY. I have done a fair amount of research on the Exeter Angells in an attempt to find a connection. There appears to have been a large migration from the RI/CT area of which this Angell clan was but one part. This may line up with stories I have heard of loyalists being run out west. William Angell (b.1710, RI) moved to (founded) Exeter, Otsego Co., NY in 1789 with at least 5 of his sons, a number of thier wives, and a handfull of grandchildren. I anticipate making a connection through the oldest son James (b.1736, CT) who apparently settled with his youngest half brother Joseph in Burlington. It may be possible that my William (b.1797) is the grandson of James. Based on what I have found it seems very likely that the MI Angel(l)s that I have seen a few threads on are also part of this family. I am eager to exchange information regarding Angels in Michigan in hopes of bringing things together. Obviously, I would welcome any information about any Angels in Allegany, NY or any other descendants of Charles G. Angel.
