Ruel was born in 1796. He first married Betsy Brown in 1810. He married Jemina Ayers around 1826. Hiram, his son, was born aroun 1829 in Ontario, Canada. He married Louise 1859/60 and she died in childbirth with Louisa in 1860. He then went on to marry a Mary?, b about 1840, and had William, Mary, Samuel (1868) and Hiram in Ontario. They are all on the 1871 Ontario, Canada census. This doesn't quite fit with your dates.
