I have information provided me by an Andrus descendant in Seattle back in 1979. According to her information, Ruluf was orphaned at the age of 16 and then raised by a guardian named Joseph Johnson. She didn't cite a source for this information so I have not been able to verify it. She also gave me some information from the military records of Essex County,New York showing a Ruloph Andrews who served as a lieutenant in Lt. Col. Joseph Sheldon's regiment. This info was in Vol I of Council of Appointments , Military Records, State of NY, 1784-1821. Another notation from Vol II, 1809, p. 1103 of Essex County shows Lt. Ruluf Andres serving in Lt. Elijah Barnes' Regiment. Does this fit with any of your information? I would be interested in a copy of your information regarding Ruluf. I have never established a connection with my own line, but my line is from the same area and I keep hoping.
