Andrus Family Genealogy Forum

Hi, Naomi,
Thanks for your message. I am not aware of the Hurley book but I am aware of the write up that the book quoted. It was written by Lily Jackson who is the mother in law of my niece. There are many mistakes in it. 1. Eldad died 1892, not 1882. 2. Susan Missouri was wife number 3, not wife #1. 3.Emma Jane, wife #2, and Eldad weren't buried head to head. The grave indentations tell a different story. Eldad divorced Missouri in 1888 but she could have been buried there. When my fatherinlaw and his three sons fenced the grave yard we reset Eldad's and Emma's stone. I feel sure that it is in it's original location but when we set what few stones were left it would be simply pure blind luck-or divine quidance-if they are correct.I do thank you and greatly appreciate your reply but I am curious-where did you locate a Hurley book--at the Galena library? Are you an Andrus relative? If so, be informed that there is to be an Andrus reunion September 8, at Aurora, Mo. at the Crosby Park, 1-6 p.m. Welcome. Thanks again.
