Amarillis or Amarillus Andrews
Posted by: Claire Fyfe (ID *****3793) Date: October 03, 2012 at 13:15:42

I have traced a branch of my husband's family back to William and Amarillis Norton living in Granville, Washington County, New York. Most of the info I have about them comes from census records, not vital records, and I have no maiden name for Amarillis. I know she was born circa 1798 in Connecticut (William was born in New York). There is an Amarillis Andrews, daughter of Titus Andrews and Miriam Lewis, born in Cheshire, New Haven, CT on Sept 16 1798. Amarillis is a fairly unusual name and I don't see anyone else with that first name born in CT that year, but I don't have a definite link. Does anyone know if Amarillis Andrews married a William Norton of New York? Their daughter Louisa, from whom my husband descends, was born in 1826 so probably their marriage was before that. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, Claire
