My 2XG Grandfather was a CORENTIN ANDRE (b: ~1840 Brest, France - d: Unk, but ~during/after WWI) He served in the French Navy (or Merchant Marine) and was the recipient of the French Legion of Honor Medal. He was also awarded the 1859 Italian Campaign Medal; the 1859 French Military Valor Medal; the 1883-85 French Indo-China Campaign Medal; French Valor & Discipline Medal (Louis Napoleon) and (Rep. of France 1870); and the British Crimean War Medal with "Sebastopol" Bar)- silver (unnamed). It is believed that he died during or shortly after WWI in France. The identity of his spouse is presently unknown. His daughter was MARIE ANDRE (b: 1872 in Brest, France). She met and married a man named (?) HUZEL, also of Brest, France. They had two known daughters:
1). MARGUERITE HUZEL (b: 5 Apr 1897 Brest, FR.) and; 2). YVONNE HUZEL. MARGUERITE met a WWI U.S> "Doughboy" serving in France named HERBERT JEWETT BOLINGER, Jr. (b: 4 July 1897, Indiana - ). MARIE, then age 47 and her daughter, MARGUERITE traveled from France to Indiana on the SS France on 19 Dec 1919 for the purpose of the marriage of her daughte, MARGUERITE to HERBERT J. BOLLINGER in Indiana around Xmas 1919. They had one son, born 10 months later, JOEL HERBERT BOLINGER (31 Oct 1920 Waukegan, Lake Co., IL - 1 Feb 2004 Evanston, Cook Co., IL). The couple divorced shortly after the birth of their one and only child. MARIE traveled back and forth back to France. and owned/ran a dress shop in Lake Forest, IL. She remarried GEORGE SCHOLLS (a WWI U.S. Army Aviator) and they moved to San Jose, Costa Rico, where he had a coffee plantation. She died there and she was buried in San Jose, Costa Rico.
2). Their second daughter, YVONNE HUZEL (b: Brest, Fr.), also immigrated to the U.S., and she lived with and worked with her in Lake Forest. IL. YVONNE was a fashion buyer, was beautiful, but never married and eventually died without children.
JOEL HERBERT BOLINGER, the son of MARGUERITE HUZEL and HERBERT J. BOLINGER, was a Boy Scout, enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII, he servied aboard a Navy Troop Transport ship, the USS Montecello AP-61, which was a pre-war Italian cruise ship commendeered for the Navy for the war. He reportedly went back and forth trans-Atlantic delivering troops until he was discharged as a Petty Officer in 1945-46. He worked as an electrical engineer in north Chicago and owned a beautiful power boat he kept at North Chicago. In ~1948, he met and married AURELIA CECELIA GORDON (b: 21 March 1929 Chicago, Cook Co., IL - 31 Dec 1998 Rhinelander, WI). They had 3 children:
1). SUZANNE MARIE BOLLINGER (b:1949). She married H#1 EUGENE McCOY but was div. w/o children; then she remarried H#2 CARL WEIGLE, and they now live in Tacoma, WA. They have no children;
2). HARRIET MARGUERITE BOLINGER (b: 8 Jun 1956 Lake Forest, Lake Co.,IL). On 23 Jun 1983 in Cook Co., IL, she married MARTIN ROSS, and they had one son: DOUGLAS WHITAKER ROSS (b: 7 Sep 1995 Lake Forset,Lake CO.,IL). They divorded in ~2004. Harriet lives with her son in Winnetka, IL. Her former spouse lives with his parents in Lake Forest, IL;
3). GORDON JOEL BOLINGER (b: 21 JUL 1957 Lake Forest, Lake Co.,IL). He never married and has no children. He had the unique opportunity to purchase a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Oscaloosa, IA, and has lived there since the 1990s.
