RE: Andre Dit Stamand Line

I am looking for information On the Andre Dit St Amand Line. I have come to a stand still With a ggreat granfather,Loius/Lewis A St Amand (AKA Santimo,Santiman ect.) I have him in a New York St Lawrence census in 1880 and his sons were born in St Lawrence in 1865 and 1869. I have yet to find him before this.
Louis's birth info is b 1803 in Canada.
I am hoping mabe the A isn't his middle initial but that it is for Andre. His first son was named Andrew but in one obituary it was listed as Andre(it could have also been a typo).
Any help would be appriciated.
Thank you
Jen
