Our ancestors were related to the Hungarian Andrassy's, and we were told that we connect to Count Julius Andrassy some way. Our ancestors removed to England during the religeous persecutions and changed the name to Andras.
Walsingham Andras was born ca. 1713, became a Freeman, and married to Sarah Jones in Bristol in 1750. Family history has had this family leaving Hungary to France then to England. His daughter, Catherine Andras was a well known artist for King George III and her specialty was wax effigies. Her wax effigy of Lord Nelson is displayed in Westminster Abbey.
His son John Cennick Andras had a large family, and one married a descendant to the brother of the famous English poet John Gay.John Gay's pocket watch was passed down through our family. Would love to go back into Hungary with a connection to our family and, of course, correspond to any who relate to the English family.
