My G-grandfather Manoel d'ANDRADE was born 21 September 1838, at Sao Roque, Rosto do Cao, San Miguel, The Azores. His parents were Jacinto d'ANDRADE & Francesca Emilia SOARES. Grandparents Antonio d'ANDRADE and Maria Jacintha, and Jose SOARES & Rosa Jacintha. He went to sea, and at the age of 15 in Sydney, Australia, jumped ship and remained here. He changed his name to Andre Manuel (probably as he was concerned about deportation), was married 3 times to Irish girls (1st two wives died in childbirth) and started a farm in Mackay, North Queensland. If anyone else is connected with this family I'd be delighted to hear from them and share information.
