Thanks so much for your help, Patrick! Probably the family history you have seen is the one written by Stansbury...I think maybe Thomas Sr. and Comfort's grandson? If so I have seen that one. I think you're right about looking in Baltimore and I hadn't thought to check ships' lists and I'll try to find those! Unless Thomas went BACK to Baltimore to marry, I think his descendant is wrong about Thomas Sr. and Comfort marrying in Baltimore. There is a descendant of theirs who matches my brother's DNA and we have Paul Garrison Sr. and wife Margaret Donnally as Thomas Sr.'s parents. They are in Augusta Co., Va. in the mid 1700s...I used to believe (pre DNA) that my Paul in Virginia was the one in Baltimore who had earlier married Elisabeth Frazier but now, while I think it is likely, I need to do more searching to be sure. I am told by the Donnallys that their family was in Maryland prior to Virginia. And there are Roberts in Maryland too...but hard to find which was Comfort's. I did find, I believe it was, a William Roberts in Rowan Co near where Thomas and his father and siblings had land, so perhaps that is the right one, but ...no "fer shures!" I'll let you know when we find the right one since your family is connected too! I think that STansbury was wrong about Thomas and Comfort marrying in Maryland though since either Thomas was born in Virginia or came as a tiny baby. His father went to Rowan Co., NC, when he left Virginia. I surely appreciate your suggestions and will look at ships list! Marti Notify Administrator about this message?
