Anderson family, Habersham Co., GA

I'm looking for information concerning the family of Rachel Anderson and Peter Reece, Jr.

They are not my direct ancestors; rather, I am descended from Peter's brother Jacob.

Peter, Jr. and Rachel are the ancestors of noted Georgia poet Byron Herbert Reece.

I'm particularly interested in the time the Reece/Anderson family spent in Habersham County, Georgia, and I'm hoping some of the Anderson family records might mention them.

First, I'm curious if anyone has done deed research on the Andersons in Habersham County in the 1820s?

I suspect that Rachel Anderson Reece - perhaps or perhaps not already a widow - moved to Habersham County from SC, along with her kinfolk in the 1820s. But that's just a suspicion, lacking evidence.

Other family members I know were in Habersham County include Rachel's father John Anderson and brother Moses Anderson (both of whom drew land in the 1827 lottery), as well as her sister Sarah Anderson who married John Brock in Habersham County in 1822.

If Peter Reece were alive when the families moved to Habersham County, then he might have appeared as a witness on one of the Anderson family deeds?

Peter Reece's orphans drew land in the 1827 lottery. At that time they were living in Habersham County, near John and Moses Anderson. That they were elible to draw land in that lottery indicates that they were in the state by 1823, but it does not really clear up when Peter died or even where they first lived in the state.

My second question concerns the marriage date of John Brock and Sarah Anderson. Some folks have posted a date of 28 February 1822 online. However, the original marriage books for Habersham County (posted online) seem to indicate that the February date was the date of the license, and the actual marriage took place on 11 June 1822?

But there's a big blob of ink on this page, and I could easily be misreading the entries. Can anyone clarify this for me? The marriage records are online in "Georgia's Virtual Vault," at: http://content.sos.state.ga.us/index.php

If anyone is interested, I would be happy to post the information I have that suggests the names of the orphans of Peter (and Rachel), which comes from deeds where they sell the land they drew.

Also perhaps of interest to Anderson researchers, one of their children, John Reece, married his first cousin, Mary Anderson.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,
