I am also researching the Anders/Andrews family. I have found Adam Anders in Va. in 1785 married to Sarah Nelson of Maryland. There is also Jacob Anders 1795 who married Amelia Potts and Nancy Pavey.
They moved to Ohio and there are MANY instances that they did indeed use the name of Andrews down through both of these lines. Whether they changed it because of legal problems-the fact is they almost always went back to using the name of Anders. I cannot find a clue that helps so far as to where they came from. Adam's daughter Malinda was stated as being born in Northport VA. I cannot find it. I have a lot of Anders in my line. There were a lot that settled in Fayette Co OH. If I can help,I will be glad to.
