A photo of little Pearl E. ANDERS' tombstone from the Oakwood (on South Morton Street) Cemetery in Okmulgee, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma has been uploaded to this website's VIRTUAL CEMETERY: http://www.genealogy.com/VG/vcem_search.html It indicates she was born February 9, 1902 and died September 10, 1904. Inscription reads: "Weep not for me, my parents say. __? __? not dead but sleeping here. I'm not yours, but Christs alone. He loved me best, he took me home" Oklahoma became a state in 1907 and before then, Okmulgee was a popular town in Creek Nation, Indian Territory. This cemetery was recently vandalized and many headstones knocked over and broken. I photographed many of the markers before further damage is done and these early citizens' graves forgotten. Please consider taking photos of old tombstones and sharing them online to help other researchers and to preserve deteriorating markers via pictures. I am not related, nor am I seeking further information. Just passing this info along. Notify Administrator about this message?
