Hi everyone,
My name is Fayette James Amsden, my father is Fayette Monroe Amsden the 5th as i understand it. To better explain who i am and how i found this site I will post the message i just sent to Dale Amsden...

I don't know you nor you I, but i did a google search on my name and came across your article about your grandfather Fayette Monroe Amsden. Uh, I'm not sure how to say this but i may be related to you. I don't know much about my fathers side of the family but i do know his name and where he presently lives. His name is Fayette Monroe Amsden the 5th, i was supposed to be the 6th but my middle name originated and still is James which i currently go by now. My father lives in Rhode Island currently with his family. He and my mom got divorced when i was two. I have met him twice and attempted to be a pen pal with him growing up but he claimed he wasn't much of a writer so i lost all respect for him feeling he didn't want to keep in touch. Since then i have given up on my roots and have no idea who is related to me.
My mom got remarried to my step dad, they had a son who i call my brother. i was raised with his side of the family but after about a decade they divorced and his side of the family had nothing to do with me anymore. The only people who i now consider my family is my mom, her boyfriend (for over a decade now), My brother, grandma (on mother's side), aunt, uncle, and two cousins who reside in Wisconsin.
I would like to communicate with you about our roots and see if they are the same. I attempted to call my dad today coincidently for the first time in two years, but there was no answer. And now on the same day i run across your article. Please respond to me, i check my email daily. If this helps make any sense out of this i am 26 years old and like i said my fathers name is the same as the guy you are trying to do research on.

So there you have it, that's my story. I just found all this stuff today. I dont know how active this site is but it sure makes me curious. I don't know who any of my family is and i rather not find out from my mother who resents that part of my life. Nor do i wish to ask my father because as you read i havent spoken with him in over two years and prior to that it was much longer. I dont know when ill feel like attempting to reach him again but hopefully through this site i can learn more about myself and my family history.
