Amodeo Family in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Hello Everyone:

How interesting that the Amodeo family is in Australia, Spain, USA, and God knows where else. Personally, i'm in California but my roots are in Termini, Imeresi, in Sicily, where i was born.

A poster here asked if there were any Amodeos from Termini who immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I happen to be one of these.

My dad was Salvatore Amodeo who moved us to Toronto from Termini in 1959. In Toronto he had a brother named Girolamo Amodeo, who was a shoemaker. Both Salvatore and Girolamo have passed on today.

One or two (i don't know the exact number) Amodeo brothers moved to upstate NY. And some moved to Pittsburg and Philadelphia, USA.

According to family history, back in the mid to late 18 hundreds my paternal and maternal grandfathers (Giuseppe DiMaria was my mother's father) came to the USA where they sold vegetables for a living. They stayed a few years, made some money, and returned to Termini where they bought a lot of farmland. I guess America wasn't good enough for them.

That's a bit of my family history. Would love to see if anybody here is related to me. Please email me here: jamodeo@goldrush.com

James
