Dear cousin,(F Mireault) Like you, I have the need to be able to prove my facts; you have to be suspect of anything to do with genealogy that is on the net these days. It seems that some people make things up because they want it to be true, are in a hurry to have the "newest" web site, or are just plain ... okay, I'll stop. Re: the patriarchal source of the family name; 1. Claude Crégheur, Sur Un Air de l'Acadie - Les Amirault, L'Ancêtre, Vol.10, No.9, pp 301-310, Bulletin de la Société de Généalogie de Québec. 2. G Andrew Martens, Mireau - A Family History, pp 11-13. Re: Marguerite BRISSON; thank you for your info. I do not have a date or place of death for Marguerite, or her husband François MIREAULT. Also, I have no information at all on her parents Benjamin BRISSON and Julie MELANÇON. Any help in this area would be appreciated. I am a decendant of François AMIRAULT dit TOURANGEAU and Marie PITRE's second child, Joseph MIRAULT. This is the branch of the family that at the "end of the expulsion" settled in St Jacques de la Nouvelle Acadie, Québec. -Since 1832, it has been called St Jacques de l'Achigan.- In keeping with his Acadian heritage, my great grandfather, Eucher MIREAU, was one of the first pioneers to take advantage of the Dominion Land Grants, homesteading in the Tessier area of the newly formed province of Saskatchewan. à bientôt,-Brian.
