Salut Ferd, long time...
Could be, but that would make her about seventy years of age in 1946 - was your Herméline a mademoiselle all her life? If so, then this could very well be her. The only other clue I can provide is that Mme. Emile Lépine is listed as one of her contemporaries in the weaving fraternity at L'Achigan. (H)Erméline should stand out in someone's living memory since she was considered to be one of the last practitioners of finger weaving in L'Assomption County, and specifically L'Achigan (circa 1945 or 46). Also, for twenty years previous to this (the Québec Festivals of 1927 and 1928), Barbeau was making quite a fuss about preserving this important part of French-Canadian culture, as was the Québec Department of Agriculture - there must have been a bit of a "folk-art" trend-demand for her work after the expositions, and that would have been something you would think that people in the family would have talked about or even taken photos of.
Do you have a family group for this person? Are you aware of any other Mireault weavers?
Merci, a bientôt - Brian.
