Hello!
My name is Mona Amirault Whiteman, now from Crow Agency,MT, but originally from Boston, MA. I need your help. I am trying to do my family history, but I only have very sketchy information. My mom keeps telling me to ask my great aunt Pauline (can't remember her last name at this second), but she lives in Plaistow, NH. Here is what I have and I hope someone can fill me in on some details and help direct me to sites/resources that can help me add to this. Thank you very much in advance.
My father's name was Peter Wilfred Amirault. He was born on 18 March 1934 in Haverhill, MA, and he died on 10 December 1996 in Susquehanna, PA. The other three sons were Norman, of Medford, MA, John of Green River, AZ, and Joseph David of Fayettevile, NC. No girls were born to this union. He was the second of four sons born to Peter Hilar Amirault (he went by Hilar, at least that is what my mom always called him) and Frances Deveau. Peter Hilar was born in Digby, NS, on 5 November 1898 and died in August 1974 in Somverville, MA. Frances Deveau was born about 1900 or 1902 in Meteghan, NS to Augustus Deveau and somebody else. Frances died in March 1970 in Somverville, MA. I knew Augustus Deveau a bit, as he did not die until late 1968 or early 1969 and he was extremely old then, in his late 90s. I know that the families of Peter Hilar and Frances immigrated to the Boston area sometime in the early 1900s-1910s. My grandparents got married in the late 1920s or early 1930s, possibly in NS, no one knows for sure. My dad said that his grandfather died when Peter Hilar was a youth and that his mother remarried, to a man named Tom Welsh. This is all my dad knew and my mom can add nothing more to it.
I am hoping that someone out there in the Amirault family forum can help me. I have tried writing to my Aunt Pauline, but never receive a reply. Once again, thank you for your help. If you wish to, you can reply to me at one of my e-mail addresses: Mona_Whiteman@hotmail.com or yarnqueen@hotmail.com
Sincerely,
Mona Amirault Whiteman
