Amero Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Sherrill,
I believe I posted the second message to this board thanks for the daily submission of the
name. I know what you had to do as I started the Amirault Forum. I am trying to update an "Amirault Genealogy" that a cousin Robert Amirault started and brought it through to his generation. Now I am trying to bring it to the 21st century. Most of the Ameros come from around the Plympton area in Digby County, Nova Scotia which is north of Weymouth. The name is from the Amirault family name. I do not know if the marriage outside of the Roman Catholic faith is part of the story or not. But I do know most of them are related To Francois dit Tourangeau Amirault, who came from Tours, France around 1680. One part of the family went to Quebec after the "Deportations of 1750" and they go by the name go by the name Mireault, The other part of the clan returned to the Pubnico area of Nova Scotia and then part of the family went to the Baie Saint Marie area. There are other variations of the name over the years. I looked up your Leonard with the Amirault spelling and have one born in 1871 in Nova Scotia married a Sarah May Amirault, but outside of this I cannot be certain he is your Leonard, but will keep trying. Also I will look for the other queries on this site. Also go to the Amirault site as they may be able to help. If you contact me at my E-mail address I will give you an E-mail address of a cousin who may be able to help you out.
All the best
Richard (Amirault) Amerault
