I could not say you would be the first to make the connection. However, if you find proof and then join the DAR, you would be the first to do that unless someone did so in the last several years since the Index was published.
You said that his name appeared twice on the Bounty Land lists. Here is info I know about the Bounty Land program of NY
NY instituted the policy of granting bounty lands on 20 Mar1781.There were additional acts later. The tract of land used consisted of 1.5 million acres and included the present counties of Cayuga, Cortland, Onondoga, and Seneca. Also parts of Oswego, Schuyler, Tompkins and Wayne. The way the land was alloted was each veteran had his name put on a slip of paper in one box.In another box the name of each lot was put in another box.A slip was drawn for each box and that was the land the veteran got.The land had to be settled within 7 years and the veteran had to pay for the official survey.
privates and NCO's got 500 actes
Surgeon's mates and subaltern got 1000
Regimental surgeon & captains got 1500
chaplains and majors got 2000
lt colonels and colonels got 2500
brigader generals got 4250
major generals got 5500.
That all I can tell you.
